Temporary Python Developer (Local Houston Candidates Only)

Our client is looking for a Python Developer with 5-10 years of development experience required.

CANDIDATES MUST ALREADY BE LOCAL TO THE HOUSTON AREA.
IN-PERSON INTERVIEW IS REQUIRED. NO SKYPE/VIDEO INTERVIEWS ACCEPTED

This is NOT a Data Scientist position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Code, script and automate using Python, as well as modify existing code as needed.
  • Work on data retrieval, processing, validation and modeling.
  • Scraping of data from various formats (html, pdf, API, etc.) and data sources/inputs using Python
  • Assist with the full software development life cycle (requirements analysis, design, development, unit testing, deployment, and maintenance).
  • Ability to communicate, obtain requirements, find solutions and implement them in a clean and concise way.
  • Create flowcharts and user guides for new and existing programs.
  • Document all programming tasks, procedures and troubleshooting scenarios.
  • Work directly with end users to resolve ambiguities in requirements and to troubleshoot issues.
  • Assist with unit testing, monitoring and ensuring overall product quality.
  • Work as part of a team running/supporting/developing production trading and risk monitoring applications, defining needs for operational tool development, overseeing daily reconciliation processes, and continuing to evolve robust operational processes.
  • Troubleshoot time-sensitive production exceptions as they occur and define instrumentation and tool requirements to address these.
  • Provide development time estimates and be able to consistently deliver on-time, high-quality code.
  • Work with third parties we connect to (data feeds, counterparties, service providers) handling updates and any issues that occur.
  • Implement new product features, as well as enhance and maintain existing functionality by monitoring solutions and performance characteristics.
  • Become intimately familiar with our custom applications and processes and understand not only how the applications work, but their technical and data dependencies and how the application is leveraged by the end users.
  • Successfully integrate data between various systems.
  • Ensure the scalability and quality of all code.
  • Create data visualizations and interactive analytics portals that turn statistical and computationally intensive data analysis into digestible reports, and integrate with visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, SSRS) for business users.
  • Good understanding of backend and server side components.
  • Develop and support Microsoft SSIS packages
  • Develop and support custom Excel Add-ins accessing information from internal databases.
  • Experience investigating, troubleshooting and resolving server issues and errors

Qualifications:

  • Strong script development and debugging skills in Python
  • 5 to 10 years of Python Development Experience with strong skills using the Pandas, Json, Multiprocessing, Beautifulsoup, and NumPy libraries
  • Expert understanding of Python Core concepts, including both functional and class-based design, and new language features up to Python 3.5.
  • Knowledge of Python ORM libraries required
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts and SQL writing skills, proven experience working with major relational database platforms such as SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL
  • Experience working with large and complex data sets and coding solutions to address requirements
  • Experience using SQL to work with large datasets Proficiency building complex visualizations in BI platforms such as Tableau or Power BI strongly desired
  • Experience developing and supporting custom Excel Add-ins
  • Comfortable working knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Provide development time estimates and be able to consistently deliver on-time, high-quality code.
  • Must have strong writing and verbal communication skills and must be able to work in a team environment
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and work ethic.
